The first semblance of a representative institution in Rhodesia is to be found in the Legislative Council, established in terms of the Southern Rhodesia Order in Council This Council, which had no executive responsibilities, consisted of the Administrator of Mashonaland, His Honour W.

FIFTY years ago the loyal British Colony of Southern Rhodesia was a quiet backwater well removed from the main stream of world affairs.
